Signs Your BFT Access Control Installation Is Failing

Access control parts rarely fail all at once. They usually start subtle, and the symptoms below are the ones we hear most from University Park homeowners before we roll a truck.

• The gate ignores the remote until you are 10 feet away. This is usually a failing Mitto receiver or antenna placement, not a weak battery. On BFT systems the receiver often lives inside the metal control box, and over time that box fills with enough Texas dust and insect nests to choke the range.

• One remote works and another does not, and reprogramming fails. Remotes can simply die, but when new Clonix remotes refuse to pair, the receiver memory is often full or the receiver itself has gone deaf. We see this a lot on gates that had five or six remotes programmed over the years.
• The gate intermittently opens or stops without any command. When a photocell shorts or a board’s access terminal develops a partial failure, the gate can behave as if someone pressed a button nobody pressed. This is the symptom that sends owners out to the driveway with a lump in their throat at 2 a.m.
