Which FAAC Models This Applies To

Welding and fabrication work on FAAC gates falls into three categories: repairing the gate itself (hinges, frames, pickets, post brackets), repairing the actuator and motor mounting hardware, and custom-fabricating mounting plates when the original geometry no longer works. The FAAC 400 and 412 series use compact 24V hydraulic operators with a specific bolt pattern on the mounting plate. The 750, 760, and 770 models are beefier 24V hydraulic units, and their rear brackets take real load - when those brackets fatigue, the motor starts torquing against the gate itself, and you’ll hear it groaning through the stroke.

Here’s what actually matters for matching the part: the actuator is stamped with its model on the cylinder body, and the gate’s hinge side tells you the rest. Measure the distance from the center of the hinge pin to the inside face of the gate frame. If it’s over 1/8 inch different from the same measurement at the top hinge, the frame has moved and that’s a fabrication issue, not a parts issue. For OEM versus aftermarket: FAAC cylinders and gearboxes we prefer OEM, because the hydraulic timing matters. For steel brackets, hinge plates, and post saddles, a good 1/4-inch to 3/8-inch hot-rolled steel fabrication, primed and painted, will outlast the original galvanized bracket in University Park’s humidity. Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• Rust bleeding through the paint at any weld joint. That’s not cosmetic. Once moisture gets inside a cracked weld, the metal oxidizes from the inside out, and the failure point doubles in size every few months in Texas weather.
• The gate closes, but you hear a metallic ping or squeal as it settles against the stop. A hidden crack is flexing under load. Steel can bend a long time before it breaks, but a crack that’s singing to you is telling you it’s about done.
